The STAG Group is introducing a new printing process for the aerospace market set to benefit a wide range of cabin applications. With ink that can penetrate plastic substrates by up to 0.25mm and also be printed directly onto metal and fabric, the print can withstand the knocks of in-flight service and aggressive cleaning without marking, scratching or degradation. The new printing technique, which is believed to be unique, has already been adopted by Agusta Westland, Transaero and other component suppliers to the aerospace industry.

The innovative approach enables the STAG Group to print directly onto anodised metal parts, powder coated / lacquered surfaces, vacuum formed plastics and even fabrics to produce a durable and tamper proof finish. Cost effective for single or multiple item print runs, the technology can be used in a diverse range of applications from branding metal seat buckles and fabric webbing through to bespoke images on complex shaped cabin dividers. Warning messages can be printed directly onto the back of seat meal trays or wood / marble print effects can be reproduced on cabin units or dividers.

Commenting on the new approach to printing, Rick Crosby Unit Director of the business said:

“Existing print designs can be matched and, when used on vacuum formed plastic, there is no degradation in print quality where the plastic has been deep formed e.g. on corners. By printing components directly onto the substrate, a tamper proof solution is provided and there is no requirement for adhesive labels, with their associated purchase and application costs. This is a durable printing solution that has widespread appeal for the aircraft industry.”

As well as its own portfolio of products and services for aircraft interiors, the STAG Group Aircraft Interiors Division represents the following manufacturers: LORD Corp., Actron Manufacturing, Davis Aircraft Products, Parasol Aviation, Saint Louis Designs, Wollsdorf Leather, SELA Aircraft Lighting Systems, GAMA Infant Seat and The Young Engineers.
